Revitalising City Breaks not to be missed – Adventure Passport

Great Australian City Breaks

Australia offers endless country breaks a short distance from the major cities. Discover some of the best city breaks through Adventure Passport. In the fast-paced modern world, even our holidays are becoming streamlined, and mini-breaks are proving more and more popular. If you're in desperate need of some "me-time" but don't have more than a day or two to spare then not to worry, Australia offers more quick out-of-city escapes than there are weekends in a year.

If you're based in Brisbane, the glorious white-sand beaches of the Sunshine and Gold Coasts are an hour or two's drive away. Jump in your Range Rover Evoque and head north to Noosa Heads to indulge in everything from high-end fashion boutiques of Hastings Street to the beautiful National Park beaches. There are spas and fine-dining options galore if you want to unwind. Chasing something a little more lively? Head south to the bright lights, thumping waves and world-class golf courses of the Gold Coast.

There is no shortage of options if you're looking to escape from Sydney either. The Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley are stunning three-hour drives, and are home to all of the spectacular scenery, spas and retreats you can handle, with some top notch wineries thrown in for good measure. And let's not forget the pristine South Coast, a short trip from Sydney that feels like a world away.

From Melbourne, there’s the stunning Daylesford region, home to 80% of Australia's natural springs. A popular spa retreat destination, the surrounds also boast a flourishing wine industry and a myriad of restaurants and galleries. Keen to jump in your Range Rover Evoque and head down the coast? The Great Ocean Road is one of the world's great drives and is dotted with picturesque coastal hamlets begging to be explored.

Heading west to Adelaide, and the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula is the ideal spot for a getaway. Flanked on both sides by beautiful empty beaches with a bustling café and restaurant scene, the Peninsula is home to fantastic wineries and accommodation ranging from quaint beach houses to luxury retreats, all but a short drive from the CBD.

The legendary south-west Margaret River region can't be beaten for a weekend away from Perth. While waves and wineries were the original drawcards, recently the restaurants, resorts and retreats, art galleries and even breweries have all enhanced the experience. Much closer to Perth, Rottnest Island might just be one of the country's greatest treasures. Although mainly known as a family, fishing and fun times escape, don't let the reputation fool you. The bays and beaches are just stunning, the snorkelling and diving are world class, and there are plenty of high-end dining and retreat options if you do a little research.
