As official vehicle partner for the extreme Red Bull X-Alps event, Land Rover provided a fleet of award-winning Defender 110s to support the world’s toughest adventure race. Running from 20 June to 2 July 2021 over more than 1,200km of demanding alpine landscape, the Defenders showcased just how capable and durable they are.

In an event not for the faint-hearted, each of the 32 competitors combined hiking, ultra-running, mountaineering and paragliding in a challenging test of human endurance and stamina.

Red Bull X-Alps was an extreme test of the rugged Defender’s off-road credentials, which the vehicles passed with flying colours. The Defenders provided transport and shelter from the unpredictable conditions, as well as carrying vital supplies and equipment. Each vehicle was fitted with an Autohome Roof Tent to aid the athletes and crew members in their recovery, offering a safe and comfortable place to recharge.

Race organiser Ulrich Grill noted that Land Rovers are synonymous with endurance adventures and he saw the Defenders as playing a vital role supporting the competitors in the Red Bull X-Alps challenge. He saw the car’s unstoppable capability and practical cabin as being a constant throughout the 12 day event that participants could rely upon.
