The best-selling Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport will soon be available in Australia as efficient plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), offering lower emissions and fuel consumption, and an impressive all-electric range of up to 66km.

Based on Land Rover’s state-of-the-art Premium Transverse architecture, which was designed to support electrification while maintaining Land Rover’s signature off-road ability, each new model continues to deliver the refinement and capability our customers have come to expect.

Intelligently designed to offer sustainable performance, the combination of efficient electrification, downsizing and lightweighting enables incredibly low CO2 of just 32g/km in the Ragne Rover Evoque, with fuel consumption as low as 1.4L/100km, and 36g/km in the Discovery Sport, with fuel consumption as low as 1.6L/100km.

Both new models combine a 200PS (147kW) 1.5-litre three-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with a 109PS (80kW) electric motor, powered by a 15kWh lithium-ion battery, offering greater efficiency without compromising on power. The Range Rover Evoque delivers acceleration of 0-100km/h in just 6.4 seconds, while the Discovery Sport offers 0-100km in 6.6 seconds, and both can reach speeds up to 135km/h using electric power alone.

From city traffic to highway driving, a choice of three drive modes enables both vehicles to seamlessly adapt to conditions on the road. HYBRID mode, the default drive mode, automatically combines power from the electric motor and petrol engine. Meanwhile, EV (Electric Vehicle) mode enables the vehicle to run solely on the electric motor using the energy stored in the battery, for quiet, zero-tailpipe emission journeys. SAVE mode prioritises the combustion engine as its main power source, maintaining battery State of Charge at the chosen level.

The advanced new PHEV models are available with a Mode 2 Home Charging Cable, enabling the vehicle to fully charge from a plug socket in 6hrs 42mins, perfect for overnight charging; or charge from 0-80 per cent in just 1hr 24mins using Mode 3 Charging Cable in a 7kW AC domestic wall box or AC public charge points.

Cleverly, Land Rover’s InControl Remote smartphone application connects owners to the Evoque and Discovery Sport wherever they are, enabling them to monitor the vehicle’s charge status, ready the vehicle for the journey ahead, or even set a charging timer to take advantage of off-peak energy prices.

As you wait for two of our most popular models to join our growing plug-in hybrid electric vehicle range in 2021, why not explore our current PHEV models and learn more about the technology behind efficient, sustainable performance.
