Aquis Brumbies launch the Land Rover Cup

Land Rover Australia and the Aquis Brumbies today launched the Land Rover Cup, a primary schools rugby union competition for the ACT & Southern NSW area. The partnership reinforces Land Rovers commitment to grass roots rugby initiatives and complements its existing ties to the Aquis Brumbies team.

The Land Rover Cup from March – May, and will see up to 100 primary school teams compete in eight district tournaments, with winners then progressing to three regional finals and ultimately to the Land Rover Cup Grand Final to be played at GIO stadium as a curtain-raiser to the Aquis Brumbies. The best teams from each of the ACT, Southern Inland, and South Coast/Monaro regions will be represented in these Finals all vying for the inaugural Land Rover Cup silverware.

Tim Krieger, General Manager, Land Rover Australia said “The launch of the Land Rover Cup is an important step for the brand and further extends our commitment to the game of Rugby in Canberra. We have a strong heritage in Rugby and with the brand being a major partner of Rugby World Cup this year, it’s an exciting opportunity to further strengthen our partnership in the region.

“For any player to get the opportunity to play at a Rugby World Cup, the journey starts on their local rugby paddock, and at Land Rover we recognise this is where the heart and soul of the game begins”

Craig Leseberg, General Manager Community Rugby said "This is a wonderful opportunity for primary school students in our region to get involved in a state-wide rugby championship. I look forward to seeing the skills, enjoyment and teamwork from all teams, culminating in games at GIO Stadium that offer participants the added excitement of playing in front of their rugby heroes from the Aquis Brumbies".

Land Rover’s involvement in Rugby spans from grassroots through to elite rugby, with its support of the Aquis Brumbies, as well as a Worldwide Partner and Official Vehicle of Rugby World Cup 2015.
