LAND ROVER AND THE MELBOURNE REBELS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP FOR 2016 SUPER RUGBY SEASON
Land Rover is one of the world’s leading automotive brands and this partnership adds to their global rugby platform which includes Rugby World Cup, Super Rugby and English Premiership rugby. The Land Rover logo will feature prominently on the Club’s playing and training kit in 2016.
It represents a further positive step for the Melbourne Rebels, who were acquired by Imperium Sports Management in July 2015 and have since made significant steps to acquire and retain key players and Rugby department staff, as well as investing resources in the Club’s new-look commercial structure. It comes on the back of the most successful season on the field in the Rebels’ five-year history. Melbourne Rebels’ Managing Director Andrew Cox said he was pleased to welcome Land Rover into the Rebels family. “Land Rover is one of the world’s most respected and trusted brands, and alongside the Melbourne Rebels share core values of respect, sportsmanship, excellence and drive,” Cox said.
“The Melbourne Rebels are proud to be associated with Land Rover, a brand synonymous with Rugby, playing on both the global stage with the Rugby World Cup through to the grass roots Rugby community”.
“Land Rover’s support of the Melbourne Rebels will allow us to continue to progress as we did in 2015, under the direction of Head Coach Tony McGahan and his Rugby program. We have retained the core of our exciting and developing young squad, as well as complimenting it with international experience, and with the additional support provided by Land Rover we are well positioned to continue to reward the loyalty of our members, existing partners and fans.”
Kevin Nicholls, Marketing Director, Land Rover Australia said he was delighted to announce the new partnership with the Melbourne Rebels. “This partnership offers Land Rover a great opportunity to further engage with our customers and general Rugby fans in Melbourne, the sports capital of Australia and one of the most recognisable sporting cities on the planet,” he said.
The 2016 Super Rugby season will see the competition expand to eighteen teams for the first time, with new entrants from Argentina and Japan, as it retains its’ status as the only truly global regular season sports competition in Australia.
