The 2021 evolution of the Discovery is here, and comes equipped with powerful and efficient powertrains, enhanced connectivity and superior comfort and practicality. Get set to experience the most versatile, connected and luxurious seven-seat SUV in the world.

New Discovery introduces a trio of new straight-six Ingenium engines, both petrol and diesel, featuring 48V Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology for enhanced efficiency, performance and smoothness. The clever system harvests and stores energy generated during deceleration, and redeploys it to assist the engine when accelerating, providing smoother performance and efficiency. Land Rover’s four-cylinder P300 Ingenium petrol powertrain is also available. All variants offer a new Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which maximises traction, on-road dynamics and driveline efficiency, resulting in improved fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions in normal driving.

New Discovery’s bold exterior projects a more confident road presence. New signature LED headlights with a daytime running light signature create a more purposeful look, while animated sweeping front and rear indicators provide heightened visual sophistication. At the rear, new signature LED lights are joined across the back of the vehicle by a new Gloss Black panel. Meanwhile, the new R-Dynamic model brings a more assertive character and strong stance with unique design elements, including purposeful Gloss Black and Shadow Atlas exterior accents on the outside, and two-tone leather and contrast seat stitching on the inside.

Step inside the New Discovery to find premium craftsmanship throughout its full-size seven-seat layout. The spacious, comfortable cabin incorporates Land Rover’s cutting edge Pivi Pro infotainment, with a completely redesigned centre console housing its 48% larger 11.4-inch, full HD touchscreen. The fast, intuitive interface offers a simplified menu with immediate responses. Its built-in back-up battery means navigation initialisation takes just seconds, while the logical menus allow the most commonly used functions to be accessed directly from the customisable home screen. Dual-sim technology with two LTE modems enables the system to carry out multiple functions at the same time, like streaming media and downloading Software-Over-The-Air updates, without compromising performance.

The New Discovery has already generated a positive buzz amongst the motoring journos, with CarSales saying, “Where once Land Rover lagged the competition, the new Disco should be at the very top of the class for on-board tech.” CarExpert points out that “the facelifted Discovery will have a simplified model line-up with more standard equipment”, with CarsGuide noting that “the D300 is equipped with $30k worth of extra equipment when compared to the model it replaces, which includes 20-inch alloy wheels, twin panoramic roofs, LED headlights and signature DRLs.”

Discover all the enhancements that make the 2021 New Discovery the ultimate seven-seat premium SUV.
