LR Ambassador, big-wave surfing pioneer Laird Hamilton

Kicking the week off with World Mental Health Day we can seek inspiration on how to build resilience from Land Rover Ambassador and big-wave surfing pioneer Laird Hamilton, as part of a wider initiative called Project Discovery.

Project Discovery was an international research study commissioned by Land Rover that uncovered that only 7% of people met a scientific definition of ‘highly resilient’. But the ability to cope with challenging situations is something we can develop over time. Three factors help to build resilience; Friends and Family, Enrichment with Purpose, and the Spirit of Discovery.

Laird Hamilton demonstrates resilience throughout his life in the face of one of nature’s most powerful forces. After a period when the world faced unprecedented challenges, Laird explores what’s important to him in life and how these he builds mental and physical resilience.

As restrictions ease, it’s time to reconnect again with our adventurous spirit and seek out new places to explore. Never stop discovering.
