Land Rover Australia is pleased to announce that professional surfer Sally Fitzgibbons has come on board as an ambassador for the Land Rover brand.
Sally Fitzgibbons said of the partnership,“I am incredibly excited to become a Land Rover ambassador and I share the brand’s passion for performance. I will be driving my Land Rover Discovery to some of Australia’s best surfing spots, and it will be a partner in my quest to become the world’s number one female surfer.”
Michael Winkler, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Australia said,“Land Rover is proud to partner such an inspiring young Australian, whose talent and drive has placed her on the world surfing stage. Sally’s achievements are a great reflection of the kind of spirit that is at the heart of our brand, and we are delighted to welcome her to the Land Rover team.”
Sally Fitzgibbon has been a surfing champion since her teens. At 14 years of age, she was the youngest ever surfer to win the ASP Pro Junior event, and she continued to set records through her junior years. At 16, she won her first ISA U18 World Title and backed it up the following year winning both the Billabong ASP U21 World Title and the ISA World Games Open Title.
In 2010, 2011 and 2012, Sally finished second on the ASP World Tour, proving that she is a genuine world contender. Her notable wins include the iconic Ripcurl Pro Bells Beach back-to-back wins, Billabong Pro in Rio de Janeiro, Nike US Open of Surfing, TSB Bank Pro New Zealand and the Roxy Pro France.
Most recently, Sally won the Billabong Pro in Rio de Janeiro followed by her second consecutive world title victory at the Fiji Pro held in May 2014. Sally won the final over Gold Coat rival Stephanie Gilmore 9.00 to 8.73 in challenging waves at Cloudbeak reef in Fiji. Sally’s accomplishments are perfectly in tune with the Above and Beyond spirit of adventure that is part of the Land Rover ethos.
Sally will drive a 2014 Discovery HSE. She joins fellow Land Rover ambassadors, George Gregan, Phil Waugh and Jennifer Hawkins.
