NEW 2021 RANGE ROVER VELAR THE TALK OF THE TOWN
Due to hit showrooms in 2021, the highly anticipated new Range Rover Velar is already tantalising the media world following the release of its upgrades and features.
CarExpert was quick to note that the refreshed Velar “receives JLR’s Pivi Pro infotainment system, as seen in the Defender. It supports over-the-air updates via an embedded data connection, ensuring you don’t need to visit a dealer to get vehicle software or navigation updates”.
With pricing starting from $87,000, this latest embodiment of the esteemed Velar is now part of a “simplified model-walk”, as described by CarAdvice. In essence, reducing the number of model options “aims to take some of the complexities out of the purchasing experience with the previous four trim levels, two design lines, and eight available engines (excluding the high performance SVO model) stripped back to just five variants”.
Engine-wise, CarAdvice points out the 2021 Velar offers a choice of three powerplants: a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol, a mild-hybrid four-cylinder turbo diesel, and an inline six-cylinder petrol. This impressive, range-topping engine “uses a 48V mild-hybrid system” and “outputs 294kW and 550Nm”. Performance Drive concurs, adding that it “showcases JLR’s awesome new 3.0-litre turbo inline-six petrol, featuring an exhaust-driven turbo and an electric compressor”. In other words, the new Velar is no slouch when it comes to power.

Meanwhile, CarsGuide shines the spotlight on the new Velar’s notable levels of technology, bringing to our attention that it “also scores the latest Pivo Pro multimedia system, active road noise cancellation and cabin air filtration, while adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and wade sensing are now standard fare”.
