Taking influence from modernism, The Catch is a unique sculptural form; a fusion of art, automotive design and sport. It is the second piece in an on-going collaboration between Land Rover's Design Director and Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern, and the acclaimed Italian artist Nino Mustica.
Celebrating Land Rover's worldwide partnership with Rugby World Cup 2015, The Catch is inspired by the line out. One of the most important moments of any hard fought match, the line out demands a unique combination of power and finesse; two qualities clearly manifested in this unique sculpture.
Land Rover's Virtual Reality Cave was used during the production process to optimise the location of The Catch in each venue. The same technology was employed during the development of Unstoppable Spirit, which debuted on London's South Bank in September, 2014.
Art and design are inextricably linked. It's about making that emotional connection.

Land Rover Ambassador and Rugby World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio, acted as a consultant to the project. Dallaglio was recognised as one of the leading exponents of the line out throughout his career.
The Catch is the second piece Mustica and McGovern have created together, following the critically acclaimed Unstoppable Spirit, which has been shown in London and Milan.
A UNIQUE COLLABORATION
Sicilian in origin, but international in scope, artist Nino Mustica has been admired and studied by painters, sculptors and architects. He works from his studio in Milan, Italy.
