Land Rover ran a competition to get Defender fans to reveal their most epic adventure in a 4x4. We received an incredible response, the stories were eclectic and inspiring, and revealed that the spirit of adventure is well and truly alive amongst our 4x4 enthusiasts.
From the many entries the top ten were chosen, and winners received an exclusive limited-edition Defender book. This hardcover book trails through the history of Defender, from its conception through to the much-anticipated 2020 return.
TOP 10 EPIC ADVENTURES
Here are our top ten entries, which share Land Rover’s adventurous spirit.
In 2017 we flew from Perth and picked a new Range Rover Sport in Launceston Tasmania and drove 15 days around Tassie and then home, 4500km across the Nullarbor. Photos at Lake Ballard, near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
Taking Fendi and kids to the 150km radius restriction limit in Brisbane, QLD due to COVID lockdown - the Condamine Creek crossing! Kids <3 it!
Camping, up in the hills near Woodenbong. My Landy, family and the dogs, absolute heaven!
From our tiny town of Mallacoota, we did the trek across to the West. Stopping in most places along the coast on the way (mostly to surf). Through Western Vic, Robe area, Yorke's Peninsula, Eyre peninsula, across the Nullarbor to Esperance, Albany, Denmark, finishing in Yallingup. Our favourite was around Esperance. The waves were pumping, and beach driving was epic. Here's our youngest, Hendriks, loving it.
Driving Stockton Dunes in torrential rain! Far from the typical sunny beach drive and hardly any visibility, but had a blast in my 90! (photo taken right before the heavens opened up!)
It was Coffs Harbour a few years ago. A bunch of Landies, a Disco with sticky tyres, a tree and a heavy right foot. Yikes!
Iceland. We experienced sleet, sunshine, snow and rain, with the payoff being this view of the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lake.
Hubby’s dream came true when his 110 Defender arrived in 2015. He then drove across the Nullarbor, from Perth to Melbourne with our 2-year-old.
Three mates and I took the 2020 Defender on a road trip to Noosa, QLD.... how could we not have an epic adventure?
Looking forward to getting my New Defender to sit next to my old Defenders. Drove this Defender all round Australia. Did 45,000km, no issue on all the iconic tracks.
