LIFEFLIGHT AND DEFENDER CONTINUE TO SUPPORT CRITICAL MISSIONS

LifeFlight and Land Rover Australia continue to share a commitment to going above and beyond. The Land Rover LifeFlight Special Mission helicopter has been utilised in critical rescue operations during the recent flood crisis, and Defender enables access to remote communities to deliver important First Minutes Matter training.

The helicopter is highly advanced and designed to tackle the most challenging missions, from offshore in wild ocean conditions, to rugged, hostile inland environments. It can be deployed around the clock to emergencies anywhere in Australia. Some recent missions include assisting people trapped by floodwaters during the devastating floods in northern NSW. Winching people from houses, rooftops, tinnies and even trees, the Land Rover LifeFlight Special Mission helicopter saved lives and was an essential tool in the emergency response to this natural disaster.

FIRST MINUTES MATTER

LifeFlight Australia also educates members of local communities on what they can do to help during the initial, vital moments of a traumatic accident. These free ‘First Minutes Matter’ trauma training workshops cover real-life situations, including burns, bleeding, snake bites, choking, seizures and CPR. With the assistance of the unstoppable Land Rover Defender, the workshops are delivered to hard-to-reach communities in regional Queensland.

Since the program was launched in late 2021, almost 900 Queenslanders are now better equipped to offer immediate assistance when an emergency occurs. First Minutes Matter Trauma Training Program Manager, Craig Blick, said, "It's a great program that teaches important medical skills for pre-hospital emergencies, while you're waiting for an ambulance or the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter." In the past 12 months Blick has travelled 45,000km in a Defender to meet with communities, and throughout his travels the vehicle’s advanced technological and safety features have kept him safe.
